A menos de 100 días para que de comienzo el Masters de Augusta (9 al 12 de abril), primer Grande de la temporada 2015, 90 jugadores tienen asegurada su presencia en el Augusta National.
Por cuarta vez en los últimos cinco años, al menos 90 jugadores lograron su clasificación para el Masters antes de que finalizara el año por lo que cada vez se hace más difícil lograr que el campo más reducido de los cuatro Majors se mantenga en los dos dígitos, objetivo primordial para la organización que mantiene desde 1966.
Por el momento tres son los españoles que cruzarán la entrada más famosa a un campo de golf, Magnolia Lane. Ellos son Sergio García clasificado por varios caminos, acabar entre los cuatro primeros en el British Open 2014 (categoría 14), disputar el Tour Championship del PGA Tour (17) y ser Top 5o en el ranking mundial a finales de año (18).
La clasificación de Miguel Ángel Jiménez viene determinada por terminar entre los 12 primeros en el pasado Masters de Augusta donde fue cuarto (categoría 12) y al igual que García ser Top 5o en el ranking mundial a finales de año (18).
Por su parte José Mari Olazábal tiene asegurado un puesto en el Torneo de Campeones de por vida al haber vestido la Chaqueta Verde alguna vez y el «vascorro» como cariñosamente le llama Jiménez lo hizo en dos ocasiones 1994 y 1999 (categoría 1).
