Capitanes San Roque 2017Captains Debbie Richards and David Campbell outline why San Roque is one of Spain’s most popular and highly respected golf clubs, with a first-class range of amenities and services that rival those at any club in the world.

  • How did you discover SRC and when did you join?

Debbie Richards – I first played at San Roque in 1993 as part of a golf package and I became a member in 2012.

David Canpbell- I joined in 2010.

  • Why did you choose SRC above all the other clubs in this area?

DR – I always had fond memories of the club and when we knew we were relocating to the area I phoned San Roque as well as other local clubs to see which one would suit us best. I was most impressed by both the helpfulness of the Membership Department and the full Calendar of Events that San Roque had to offer.

DC- A number of friends were members and I enjoyed the camaraderie of the club.

  • As a corporate / platinum member, what benefits do you enjoy?

DR – As a platinum member I enjoy unlimited golf together with preferential rates for my guests. I also receive a range of discounts throughout the club and its facilities.

DC – San Roque has two of the best courses on the coast, and has some of the best holes, where you have to plot your way round to score well. The handicap at San Roque will always stand you in good stead anywhere in the world.

  • One of SRC’s strong points is the interesting reciprocal agreements with other golf clubs not only in the area but worldwide. Have you taken advantage of this exclusive benefit for club members?

DR – I have been lucky enough to take advantage of the reciprocal agreement with the K Club.

DC – The reciprocal arrangements are excellent and allow you to play the other great courses locally, Real Sotogrande as an example. As yet, I have not taken advantage of the worldwide reciprocals.

  • The roll ups that SRC members play each week are becoming very popular. Can you please explain a bit more about this?

DR – The roll ups are a fantastic part of the Club’s week – especially for new members. To participate you simply sign up and the Captains will organize your playing group for the day. They provide a great opportunity to play friendly yet competitive golf.

DC – Our roll ups on Tuesday and Thursday, allow the members to play with their friends and other members, some of whom are Internationally based, so when they come to play, they can have fun while improving (sometimes) their handicap. It creates a great camaraderie with old and new members alike. They are always made welcome, enjoying the facilities.

  • How does the Men / Ladies section work in the San Roque Club?

DR – The Men/Ladies sections work closely together. They have their roll ups and weekend competitions on the same days and also organize mixed competitions throughout the year.

DC – The Men’s section, whilst larger, always has a good relationship with the ladies section, especially at our social functions.

  • How do you rate both Old & New courses compared to other prestigious courses?

DR – I have played many prestigious courses and in my opinion San Roque well holds its own when compared with these.

DC – Having two fantastic courses without compare, allows not just members, but also visitors from all over the world to to enjoy and play. Comparisons are difficult, as San Roque is such a friendly club with great vistas and holes that it take your breath away.

  • SRC prides itself on its service and philosophy of personal attention for members – would you agree with this?

DR – All the staff, from the Membership Team to the Pro Shop and Caddy Masters look after the members exceptionally well.

DC – SRC has certainly some of the best facilities available to the amateur and professional golfer alike.

  • Would you recommend membership at SRC to other golfers?

DR – Without any hesitation. Apart from two fantastic courses and a full and varied golfing calendarPl San Roque is a really friendly club with a great atmosphere.

DC – I would always recommend membership of SRC to any golfer, beginner or experienced, we are always looking forward to meeting new people, do not hesitate in calling our pro-shop, and see what tee times are available, so you may experience the wonderful San Roque Club.
